I think I'll do a post on the taboos of writing sometime.Sparkflyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06438481244274523575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5415876150195061197.post-53120888092383365112011-11-01T12:10:25.966-07:002011-11-01T12:10:25.966-07:00I feel that many times, stories motivated from pro...I feel that many times, stories motivated from prophecy tend to lead down the more biblical reads. Its hard to incorporate a prophecy aspect into most novel genres unless you’ve done your research on your own constructed lore. I’m thinking about the Matrix right now. They used prophecy in a modern-day / Sci-Fi and pulled it off great (for the most part at least. I only think the first movie is worth mentioning). On the other hand, if great care isn’t spent in really making a prophesy driven plot make sense, there’s few ways to better have critics nitpick and call your lines cliché when they come across “the chosen one”, or “the prophesy says”.Author Paul Yoderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18080786526066253549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5415876150195061197.post-49280318617403221502011-10-29T06:17:46.284-07:002011-10-29T06:17:46.284-07:00Great reminders, Emil. Characters are the most important, and I might add that even if a writer doesn't include a lot of a character's background in the actual story, it's still helpful for the writer to know that character's background because as you clearly indicated, it's what motivates that character.
